2020 Afterschool Program - Reopening COVID-19 update
Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County continues to further mission of inspiring young people in Jackson County. During these unprecedented times with the COVID-19 pandemic, we hold true to our values of putting kids first, keeping kids safe and helping kids lead. To the note, we are planning to open for the 2020-2021 afterschool program for both of our locations pending the respective school system start.
Please adhere to the policies below and tentative Club calendars attached for our 2020-2021 afterschool program.
BGCJC has the highest regard for keeping members, their families and staff safe during this time. To keep with best practices, as experienced and reviewed this summer, we will limit both Clubs to 100 members thus allowing a fair staff to member ratio of 1:20. Members who are dropped off by the respective school system will receive priority to help with transportation efforts.
Students who are not listed in the initial 100 member list will be placed on a waiting list for membership and called upon openings.
For students and families that have opted to attend school virtually at CHS and JCCS, members will still be allowed to be dropped off at our Clubs at 2:30pm and picked up by 7:00pm. If all school systems plan to switch to an all-virtual school setting, BGCJC Board of Directors will review our best course of action.
We will continue to sanitize, clean and disinfect regularly throughout programming hours. Each of our staff members have been provided cloth masks for extra precaution. Members are not mandated to wear a face covering, but are welcome to wear face coverings based on their own comfortability. Parents will have to continue to drop off and pick up members without entering our buildings. Additionally, every member, staff and visitor will be screened with questions and have their temperatures checked with a forehead thermometer.
