Meet our 2020 Youth of the Year
Julie Wehunt

Julie-Anna  is a a rising sophomore at Commerce High School. She has been a member of the Commerce Boys & Girls Club for 3 years along with her younger brothers and sisters. Julie is a leader in the face of adversity and and personal tragedy. Her leadership skills have excelled and shown up on her Varsity Soccer Team, her church and in the Club. 

She is an advocate for making sure her fellow Club members' voices are heard. She cares for her Club as her own family. Julie states that it's her mission to fulfill the mission of BGCJC. To know Julie, is to love her. With a smile that can light up an arena and a heart of gold, Julie is the 2020 Youth of the Year.

Who we Are

For 17 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County has been at the forefront of youth development in Jackson County, Georgia. We have served thousands of young people over the years who might come from socially or economically disadvantages circumstances. BGCJC actively seeks to enrich the lives of boys and girls through providing quality programs and other resources that lead to new experiences and greater outcomes for their future. 

The BGCJC Youth development strategy focuses on:

  1. Putting Kids First
  2. Keeping Kids Safe
  3. Helping Kids Lead

​Boys & Girls Club programs help to foster a sense of belonging, safety & security,  knowledge and influence that builds self-confidence and self-esteem.

Our programs are based in four core program areas:

  • Academic and Career Development
  • Sports, Health and Life Skills
  • The Arts
